Fire Prevention
The Fire Prevention Committee is made up of two representatives from each company. The purpose of the committee is to provide fire safety education for the community which is accomplished in the following ways:
We offer firehouse tours for various community groups throughout the year to familiarize the community with our operations and our members, and to provide fire safety education on a "one-on-one" basis.
During Fire Prevention Week in October, we hold Fire Prevention Day at the Grade & Elementary Schools. Students receive fire safety education, meet our team, see fire apparatus, and witness live fire safety and vehicle extrication demonstrations. Our puppet friends, "Boots," "Fire Marshal Smoke Billows," and "Dodo Bird" often join us at the Elementary School to assist with the fire safety lesson.
We host an annual Open House that showcases our department, facilities, and equipment to the community. The public can see, hear, and experience fire safety and vehicle extrication demonstrations in a "hands-on" format.
The Fire Prevention Committee also conducts custom fire safety presentations for specific groups off-premises upon request. We have delivered presentations at various locations including libraries, churches, senior citizen groups, pre-k classes, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, special needs groups, and others.
